Labyrinth

The New Lovatt Meeting Room is located in the library's new addition and offers a large space with a warm, rustic setting. Featuring natural rammed earth walls and striking beams, this room can hold a variety of table and chair arrangements and is ideal for large parties, events and meetings. Tables and chairs are included in the rental of the room. Projection equipment hangs from the above beams.

A labyrinth pattern built into the floor provides visual interest. Learn more about The Gayle McMurry Kinnison Memorial Labyrinth.

Meeting room lobby

At the entrance to the room is a lobby for meeting participants to gather. Restrooms are located outside the entrance.

There is direct access to the room from the street (Charles Street.) When hosting large groups, we ask that you inform your guests to park along the sides of the library (Charles Street and surrounding blocks) rather than directly in front of the library's entrance on South Tyler Ave. so that frontal parking remains available for our patrons.

Policies & Agreements

  1. Each group must gather and dispose of their garbage, and leave the kitchen area and floor clean.
  2. Groups of more than 20 must park their vehicles around to the side of the library in order to leave more accessible spots in front of the building for our patrons during our hours of operation.
  3. Groups must assume responsibility for any damage to the room or its contents.
  4. Because of the non-secure nature of the rooms, the library is not responsible for any articles left behind.
  5. Organizations must schedule individual meetings. The library will not guarantee availability of a meeting room on a regular basis.
  6. If the meeting room is used while the library is closed, it is the responsibility of the organization to pick up the key at the Front Desk during regular library hours. A key may be picked up two days in advance if necessary.
  7. When use of the room is over, the group shall be responsible for checking the restrooms, switching off any lights used, and making sure the outside door is locked. All windows should be checked and locked closed.
  8. Commercial users be charged a fee of $50, and fundraising bazaars will be
charged $5 per booth. The library will encourage and accept donations of
any size, in addition to these charges.
  9. The director is hereby granted the discretion to charge appropriately for
larger fundraisers hosted by non-profits. The director may consider
whether the non-profit participates in partnership efforts with the library
during the year, and whether some in-kind contribution or donation may
be more suitable than a fee for room use.
  10. The board requests that those using the meeting rooms for private events
such as wedding receptions provide a donation to the library.
