About Sublette County

Approximately the size of the state of Connecticut, Sublette County supports one of the lowest population densities in the county, approximately one person per square mile. Total population for the county hovers at approximately 6,000. Sublette County is flanked by three major mountain ranges: the Wind River Mountains to the east, the Wyoming Range to the west, and the Gros Ventre to the north. The Green River and rolling hay meadows made it an ideal spot for Rendezvous, historic meetings between trappers, mountain men and Native Americans. Its unchanged landscape yields a bounty of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts in the areas of hunting, fishing, mountain climbing and winter activities. A large portion Sublette County residents make their living from ranching, the oil and gas drilling industry, and from tourism. Visit the official website of Sublette County.

2010 Capitol Christmas Tree ornamentsFrom Wyoming with love: A personal touch on 2010 Capitol Christmas tree

Local residents gathered together recently at the Rendezvous Pointe Senior Center to craft ornaments for this year's Capitol Christmas tree in Washington, DC. The tree is coming from Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest. Handcrafted ornaments must reflect the theme of "Wyoming- Forever West" and be able to endure 3 weeks of harsh East Coast winter weather. Additional indoor ornaments will decorate 75 trees placed throughout federal buildings in the Capitol. Photos courtesy of Beth Allen from the Rendezvous Pointe Senior Center.

Read a press release detailing the success of the Bridger Teton National Forest program.
