Library Cards

Library cards are free. The Applicant must be able to show a local postal mailing address. Stop into the library and fill out an application. Your card will be issued and your account will become active at that time!

Children are issued library application forms when they enter the first grade. These forms must be signed by a parent or guardian before children can check out library materials. Cards are not issued to children until they enter high school. Children under the age of 18 are required to have parental permission to check out adult music and book CDs, books-on-tape and R-rated movies. Children may check out "Juvenile" books-on-tape.

There is a $2.00 replacement fee for lost cards.

Loan Periods & Limits

Books on Tape (BOTs), Books on CD (BOCD's):   3 weeks

Public Computer Use Policies

The library offers public computers that are free to the public and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis during hours of operation. Four iMacs and one Dell PC with a 3.5 floppy disk drive and CD-Rom are available for general internet, word processing, and research uses. The public computers have a 30 minute time limit, if there are people waiting for them.

Please review the following policies:

Policy adopted February 15, 2004.

1. None of the following applies to library catalog use.

2. Signing in (under Name) means you want to use a computer. Unless a computer is available when you sign in, leave your starting time (under Time Started) blank to show that you are waiting for a computer. Writing down your starting time means you have begun using a computer. Putting a check mark (under Done) means you are finished using a computer.

3. INTERNET, WORD-PROCESSING, CD-ROM use is limited to 30 minutes if others
are waiting. If there is no one waiting you may continue, without signing in again, until someone else signs in.

4. When you quit, it is the next signed-up user's turn, even if all 30 minutes were not used. You may not pass your unused time to someone else.

5. When you finish, either do nothing or click the Home button. Do not turn off the Internet browser or the computer. If the computer freezes, do not reset. Ask a librarian for help.

6. Once off the computer you may sign up again and wait for another opening. You may only be signed up once at any time.

7. It is up to you to keep track of whether a computer is available - not library staff.

8. Protecting e-mail privacy: start a second Internet browser window when you begin using the computer and close that window when you finish.

9. The computers are not identical in speed or programs. If the available computer isn't the one you need, then the user who signed up after you may take it. You will remain at the top of the list until the one you need is available.

10. Printed pages are ten cents each. Please try to print only the pages you want to pay for.

In addition, the library offers one Gateway PC available as a study/research computer and is reservable for up to two hours. This computer is not available for general internet use. Please call us at (307) 367-4114 to reserve this computer for study/research purposes or stop in and speak to a librarian at the Front Desk.

Please remember that Internet use is a no cost privilege to be enjoyed and shared by all.

How to I find an item in the library catalog? I cant find the Dewey Decimal call number.

To find an item’s location, you first need to go to the ‘Full Details’ page. From a list of your search results, click on the blue button that says ‘Full Details’ next to the item you wish to locate. Just under the item’s title, click on the small blue word ‘Holdings’. This will take you to the bottom of the page, where the call number is located. you can also use the mouse to scroll to the bottom of the page.
Click here to access the library catalog.

How do I place an interlibrary loan(ILL)?

Enter your search terms, and under ‘In Library’ choose ‘All WYLD Libraries’. Click on the ‘Locations and Call #’.
Click on the button on the right side of the page. Enter the barcode number (ex: 29092…) from the back of your library card in the ‘User ID’ field. Do not include the ‘a’ and the ‘b’, enter just the numbers. Then enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) in the PIN field. If you do not know your PIN, please call or email us or ask a librarian at the Front Desk.

Then click ‘Place Request’. You will receive a message saying “Please wait. Your request is being processed.” Fill in the optional boxes only if necessary. After the message, Clink on the ‘OK’ button and you will receive the message: “Your request has been processed.” You’re done!
Click here to access the library catalog.

Can I renew items online?

Yes, you can! Click on ‘My Account’ on the dark blue toolbar near the top of the page. You are offered four choices; click on ‘Renew My Materials’. You will be prompted for your User ID; this is the barcode number on the back of your library card, excluding the ‘a’ and ‘b’. You do not need to enter anything in the ‘Alternate ID’ field. Now type in your PIN (Personal Identification Number). Please call or email us or ask a librarian at the Front Desk if you do not know your PIN. Next, click on the button ‘List Charged Items”.
You should now see the ‘Select Items for Review’ screen. From here you can renew all your items, or you can select individual items to renew by clicking on the small box to the left of the item. Sometimes you may get a message that you cannot renew an item. This means that the item has already been renewed too many times, or that the item is on hold for another patron. Please contact us if you need help.
Click here to access the library catalog.

How can I find out what I have on hold*?

You can find out the items you have on hold under the “My Account” button on the dark blue toolbar near the top of the page. Click on ‘Review My Account’. You will see the items you have checked out, and, further down the page, the items you have on hold. You can cancel holds from this screen, if you decide that you no longer want them.
Click here to access the library catalog.

*You may not be able to review interlibrary loans(ILLs) from this page, please call or email us or ask a librarian at the Front Desk for help.

Why doesn’t my PIN (Personal Identification Number) work anymore?

When the Wyoming libraries went to the new online catalog system, the PIN for every library card holder in the state was changed, because there wasn’t a way to transfer all the PINs to the new system. If you received your library card before July 1st, 2002, you will probably need to update your PIN. If you got your card after that date, you received a random PIN. Please call us at (307) 367-4114, email us or ask a librarian at the Front Desk for your updated PIN.

How do I change my PIN?

If you know your current PIN, you can change it at any time. From any page in the online catalog, click on ‘My Account’. Then click on ‘Change User PIN’. Type your library card number, excluding the ‘a’ and the ‘b’. now enter your personal identification number (PIN) in the PIN field. You should leave the ‘Alternate ID’ field blank. You will have to type in your new PIN twice. After you’ve entered your new PIN, click the ‘Change PIN’ button. You will get a message confirming that your PIN has changed. If you have any difficulties, please call or email us or ask a librarian at the Front Desk.
Click here to access the library catalog.

How do I find out my PIN?

If you do not know your PIN, you need to contact us. Please call us at (307) 367-4114, stop by, or contact us via email. A quick check of your record by us will have you on your way.

Are there computer records of everything I've ever checked out of the library?

In order to protect as much of your privacy as possible, our computers only save records of what library items are currently checked out to you. Our computer system no longer has a record of items you have checked out once they are checked in. Please call us at (307) 367-4114, stop by, or contact us via email if you have further questions or concerns.

Are there any paper records that include any of my personal information?

The only paper records we keep are the information you provided on your library card application (i.e. your contact information). If you have overdue items, an overdue notice is generated and sent to your mailing address immediately. Any overdue notices generated but not sent are shredded. Please call us at (307) 367-4114, stop by, or contact us via email if you have further questions or concerns.

Are there other ways to renew my items?

Patrons can request to renew their items 3 ways:
1. Access your account through the Library catalog. Have your card number (ex: # 29202......) and your 4-digit pin number ready.
2. Call us during business hours at (307) 367-4114.
3. Stop in to the library with the items you wish to renew.

What software is available on the public computers?

We have four iMacs that currently use Internet Explorer for Macs 5.1. Our Dell PC uses Internet Explorer 6. The Gateway study computer also uses Internet Explorer 6.

The iMacs offer AppleWorks for word processing. Microsoft Word is available on the Dell PC and the Gateway study computer.

A high-speed DSL connection is provided by Wyoming.com of Riverton, WY.

Does the Library offer internet classes?

Yes, the library does offer internet classes. Small classes are held periodically as interest rises. To express interest in taking an internet class, contact Sukey Hohl at (307) 367-4114 during hours of operation.

My library card is from another Wyoming library, can I still check out items from the Sublette County Library?

As long as you are in good standing with your home library (i.e. you do not have overdue books, owe fines, or have lost your borrowing privileges), you are welcome to check out Sublette County Library items on your card. Please return items to their respective libraries.

Can I donate materials to the library?

Yes! We always welcome any kind of donations, including books, magazine, books on tape or CD, videos, DVDs and CDs. We look over each item and either quickly incorporate it into the collection, forward it to our Big Piney Branch Library, or use the items to raise money during our book sale.

Can I volunteer at the library?

Unfortunately, we are not accepting volunteers at this time. We do occasionally welcome help during childrens events. Call childrens librarian Nancy McDaniel during business hours at (307) 367-4114 to express interest in helping out during future events.

Do you have meeting rooms available for public use?

We have two meeting rooms available for public use. For details, policies and photos of the facilities, please visit our Services page.
